Increasing the daily activity

Pataluoto school started its journey to Healthy Town by contacting The Sports Federation of North Karelia (Pokali). It is one of the 15 non-governmantal regional sports organisations in Finland.  The aim of Pokali is to encourage people of all ages to engage in health-enhancing physical activity, to organize events, and to produce sports services and campaings as well as education and development services. This time we ordered education for students (class 8E, 20 students) and for the teachers. And why? Our aim is to increase the daily activity of our students. Not only during their free time but also during the school days.

15. and 22.9.2017 Tintti Karvonen from Pokali was training students from the class 8E .

After this training students have arranged physically active breaks in the gym.

Teacher training dealt with the functionality of the
lessons (31.10.)

The promotion of physical activity among school-aged children consists of both increasing physical activity and decreasing sedentary time. During the school day, physical activity can be increased by adding more physical education lessons, promoting active commuting and encouraging physically active breaks.During schools lessons, sedentary behaviour can be decreased by implementing active learning methods involving short active breaks, in order to support optimal learning and avoid long periods of continued sitting.
